Boys’ soccer advances in district tourney

Freshman Nate Hoover scored the game’s only goal as the Sailors (8-10-1) won their district opener 1-0 over Hudsonville.

Sailors end regular season with 2-1 loss to Holland

For the third time, the Sailors lost to a conference team they had beaten the first time. This time, Shores (7-10-1, 5-5) lost 2-1 to Holland.  Evan Brewer scored the lone goal on an assist by Jake Carlson.

Sailors lose to Rockets 2-1

After beating Reeths-Puffer 3-1 in the first meeting, Shores could only muster one goal – sophomore Grant Fortenbacher’s tally on an assist by Jake Carlson — as the Sailors (7-9-1, 5-4) fell 2-1.

Szost records hat trick in 6-1 win

Jeremy Szost had a hat trick, and Jake Carlson had four assists in the Sailors’ 6-1 conference win over Kenowa Hills. Jordan Grotenhuis, Nate Hoover and Christian Fritz all had solo goals for Shores (7-8-1, 5-3).

Soccer drops 2-0 decision to FHC

Forest Hills Central scored 20 seconds into the second half to break a 0-0 tie and tacked on an insurance goal for the 2-0 conference win. Shores fell to 6-8-1 overall, 4-3 in the conference.

Zurchauer scores lone goal in loss to Union

Grand Rapids Union turned the tide on the Sailors this time, winning 2-1. Shores (6-7-1, 4-2) won the first game 2-1 on Sept. 8. This time, the Sailors’ lone goal was tallied by Christian Zurchauer.

Sailors blanked by WMC

Western Michigan Christian scored in the opening minutes of the second half to win the non-conference contest 1-0 over Shores (6-6-1).

Shores blanks EGR in non-conference action

In the final four minutes of the game against East Grand Rapids, the Sailors (6-5-1) broke a 0-0 tie with two goals and went onto the 2-0 non-conference win. Jordan Grotenhuis and Jeremy Szost both found the back of the net.
