Willson places 7th at state meet in 100 breast stroke

After being seeded 30th, junior Kyle Willson finished seventh in the state in the 100 breast stroke. He won All-State honors and became only the second swimmer from Mona Shores to achieve the All-State award. He also set the new school record by almost 3 seconds. Junior Keith Otto finished 33rd in the 50 freestyle.

Willson gains third-place finish at conference meet

At the OK Rainbow meet, the Sailors placed fifth. Junior Kyle Willson picked up the highest finish with a third place in the 100 breast stroke.

Sailors pick up two wins at double dual

The boys swim team (4-6) scored two wins last night in their double dual with Ludington and Fremont. Shores defeated the Orioles 132-51 and beat the Packers 114-68.  The Sailors won 11 of the 12 events. Shores (2-6) lost 106-67 to the sixth-ranked team in the state, Zeeland. Junior Chris Evans in the 50 freestyle and junior Keith Otto in the 100 freestyle placed first.

Four swimmers record career-best times in loss

While Shores (0-5) did not win an event in the 112-69 loss to Hamilton, Mitchell Anderson, Miles DeVoogd, Chris Williams and Evan Wiewiora each picked up lifetime best times against Div. 3’s No. 2-ranked Hawkeyes.

Despite 4th place at SL Invite, Sailors making strides in pool

While Shores failed to win the SL Invitational, the Sailors are making great strides in the pool. Tyler Otto shines in loss to Northview

Junior Tyler Otto was part of both Sailor wins in Shores’ 117-69 loss to Northview. Otto won the 100 backstroke (1:02.41) and joined twin brother Keith Otto, junior Chris Evans and sophomore Pat Taylor to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.63). The Sailors are 0-3 on the season.
