The Sailors had two of the top three runners at the OK Black Conference Meet, but the depth of Kenowa Hills gave the Knights the conference crown. Kenowa Hills finished with 49 points while Shores placed third with 64. Girls run to fourth place at City

Serena Gale-Butto finished in fifth place with a time of 20:25 to lead the Sailors to fourth place at the City meet. Shores finished with 98 points. North Muskegon won the meet with 26 points. Kayla Green (9th; 20:58), Emma Milek (25th; 22:13), Megan Huettner (26th; 22:14) and Gabby Woodard (36th; 23:00) rounded out the scoring.

Woodard’s sixth-place finish breaks tie, gives Shores win

Freshmen Gabrielle Woodard had the most important sixth-place finish (23:32) of the year for the Sailors. Since the Forest Hills Central and the Sailors were tied at 28 after the top five runners from each team were tallied, the meet’s tiebreaker moved to the quickest sixth-place runner. Two runners finish in top 100 at Portage Invite

Serena Gale-Butto and Kayla Green each finished in the top 100 at the Portage Invitational aas the Sailors placed 24th. Gale-Butto was 63rd with a time of 20:41 while Green placed 83rd with a time of 21:06. Other finishers for Shores were Megan Huettner (22:37), Emma Milek (23:00) and Renee Tardani (23:20).

Girls’ x-country places 2nd at Fruitport Invite

Shores finished in second place at the Fruitport Invitational with 69 points, which was 25 points behind first-place Grand Haven.

Sailors run past Holland

Megan Huettner led the way with a second-place finish with a time of 22:54 as Shores (2-2) defeated Holland 22-40. Emma Milek (3rd; 23:29), Renee Tardani (4th; 23:43), Nicole Shady (6th; 24:03), and Jamie Kuziak (7th; 24:07) rounded out the scoring.

Green leads Sailor runners to 4th at Oakridge Invite

Sophomore Kayla Green’s sixth-place finish in 21:52 led the Sailors, who finished in fourth place at the Oakridge Invitational with 88 points. First-place Ludington had 26 points. Emma Milek (14th; 22:50), Megan Huettner (21st; 23:01), Danielle Pauwels (23rd; 23:46) and Jamie Kuziak (24th; 24:13) rounded out the scoring.

Gale-Butto places 2nd in Sailor loss

Junior Serena Gale-Butto broke into the top six with a second-place time of 21:11 while Kenowa Hills captured the other top six positions as the Knights gained a 19-38 win. Others placing for Shores (1-2) were Megan Huettner (7th; 22:40), Emma Milek (8th; 22:43), Renee Tardani (10th; 24:01) and Jamie Kuziak (11th; 24:04).
