Girls’ swim gains academic awards

The girls’ swim team received accolades for its performance in the classroom as the Sailors were named academic all-state.   Individually, seniors Sarah Hunt, Sam Kuipers, Jaclyn Shetterly, and Erinn Taylor were named all-state.

Kuipers has highest finish at OK tournament

The Sailors finished in fifth place with 147 points at the OK Rainbow tournament while champion Holland had 599 points. The best finish for Shores was senior Sam Kuipers, who placed third in the 100 breaststroke.

Three individuals qualify for state meet

While the Sailors fell to Holland 113-65, three seniors qualified for the state meet in individual events. Jaclyn Shetterly, Sarah Hunt and Sam Kuipers all made D1 State times.

Swimmers even record at 4-4

Shores (4-4) won 10 events in the 109-75 victory over Ludington. 200 medley relay qualifies for state meet

Finally. For the first time this season, Shores qualified an event for the state meet. At the MISCA meet, the 200 medley relay team (senior Jaclyn Shetterly, senior Sam Kuipers, sophomore Rachel Resterhouse and senior Sarah Hunt) became the first to qualify for the state meet, finishing with a time of 1:54.69.

Swim team falls to Zeeland East

The Sailors (3-4) managed three wins in the 105-75 loss to Zeeland East. The 200 medley relay (senior Jaclyn Shetterly, senior Sam Kuipers, sophomore Rachel Resterhouse and senior Sarah Hunt) in 1:56.52, the 400 freestyle relay (Hunt, Resterhouse, senior Emily Brown and Shetterly) in 3:52.43, and Hunt in the 50 freestyle in 25:56 all won.

Swim team wins two events in loss to Hamilton

Shores (3-3) only managed two wins in the 117-67 loss to Hamilton. Senior Jaclyn Shetterly won the 200 freestyle (2:01.80) while the 200 medley relay team (Shetterly, senior Sam Kuipers, sophomore Rachel Resterhouse and senior Sarah Hunt) placed first with a time of 1:57.43.

Hunt wins two individual titles at Plainwell Invite

Shores had three individual champions at the Plainwell Invitational as the Sailors finished in third placewith 296 points. Plainwell took first with 498 points. Senior Sarah Hunt was a double winner, taking first place in both the 50 freestyle (26.26) and the 100 freestyle (57.23). Senior Emily Brown placed first in the 500 freestyle (5:45.46).

Swimmers fall to Holland Christian

Shores (3-2) had three individual winners in the 110-75 loss to Holland Christian. Senior Erinn Taylor won the 50 freestyle (26.95), senior Jaclyn Shetterly placed first in the 100 butterfly (1:02.92), and senior Sam Kuipers had the best time in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.09).

Swimmers take second at SL Invitational

The Sailors finished with 295 points and second place, well behind Spring Lake Invitational champ Byron Center, which finished with 555 points. Two individuals placed first.
