Meet Recap

At Hastings the 2017 OK Rainbow HS Girls Conference Swim Meet saw the Mona Shores/Greater Muskegon HS Girls Swim Team swim to a program best Second Place Finish. Moving up from Fourth Place a year ago. The TEAM finished with 339 points.

The TEAM swam to 13 Personal Records Swims in the Finals and two day total of 45 Personal Record Swims Prelims/Finals. The TEAM had three OK Rainbow Conference Champions in the 200 Medley Relay (Evyn Johnson-Raegen Lockhart-Liz McNally-Ari Cavanaugh), Aria Cavanaugh (50 Free), and Raegen Lockhart (100 Breast). In addition to winning the 200Medley Relay they also Qualified for the 2017 MHSAA Division 1 State Swim Meet. Sophamore Diver Kylan Duncan also Qualified for the MHSAA Diving Regional Meet placing 9th.

This weekend success was a TOTAL Team Success from the Seniors to the Freshmen and everyone in between. This weekend everyone stepped up and show a lot of HEART, GRIT and PRIDE!!! It was great to see everyone step it up and push through the tough swims and come out on top. With that hard work and drive the TEAM had five young ladies make the 2017 OK Rainbow All Conference Team!

Game Recap

Mona Shores Varsity Volleyball lost in a tough District Finals last night against Grand Haven 0-3 sets. The box scores were 16-25, 19-25 and 9-25. Our overall record for the season is 22-22-4 and our conference record is 8-4. We are proud of the ladies for making it to the finals of districts.

Suriya van der Oord has 20 assists on the night. Top defensive players were Sasha Poland with 11 digs and Emma Lynn with 10 digs. Grace Hellman had 8 kills, Ryleigh Wehler had 6 kills and Jaizah Pyle had 5 kills to lead the team in attacking. Thank you everyone for coming out to support your Sailors volleyball team.

Game Recap

Mona Shores Varsity Volleyball won their District Semifinal last night against Kenowa Hills 3-0 sets. The box scores were 25-19, 25-19 and 25-22. This was a great team win that brings our overall record to 22-21-4. The ladies play Grand Haven tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. at Northview High School. Come out and pack the stands at Northview and help the cheer the ladies to victory!!!

Leading the team tonight was Ryleigh Wehler with 15 kills and 4 blocks. Suriya van der Oord had 20 assists on the night. Top attackers were Jaizah Pyle with 7 kills, Anya Herrala 5 kills and Grace Hellman with 4 kills. The defense was led by Emma Lynn with 14 digs, Sasha Poland with 13 digs and Sarah Mikesell with 13 digs.

Game Recap

Mona Shores Varsity Volleyball opened up their District competition with a win over Northview. The ladies battled throughout the match to win 3 sets to 2 sets. The box scores were 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 22-25, and 15-10 in the 5th set. Great job ladies! The win brings our overall record to 21-21-4. Our semifinal match will be played at Northview high school on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Come out and support your Sailors volleyball team!!!

Leading the team was Suriya van der Oord with 51 assists and 17 digs. Top defensive players were Sasha Poland with 36 digs, Emma Lynn with 19 digs and Sarah Mikesell with 15 digs. The offense was led by Grace Hellman with 15 kills, Anya Herrala with 15 kills, and Ryleigh Wehler with 14 kills. Ryleigh also added 4 blocks and Anya had 3 blocks.

The JV Volleyball team wrapped up the season with two final wins! First they beat Grand Rapids Union 25-6-and 25-7. Then they finished the season by winning the conference and defeating Reeths-Puffer 25-14 and 25-15.
